What are the right reasons to get married?

Shawna Leady

Apr 23 2015

In this episode, Shawna talks about the right reasons to get married.

This is a very important question and sadly, I don't think many people actually ask themselves this question until it's too late.
First, lets talk about the "right" reasons to get married.
You share common beliefs about life and marriage.
You are capable of working out differences respectfully.
You can respect each other even when you disagree.
You accept each other for who you are and are willing to support them towards their goals.
You love each other without conditions (weight, education, quid pro quo.)
You feel loved and supported by family and friends.
You have each other's back and are willing to protect and defend each other when needed.
You are interested in sharing and building a life together.
You know you can be vulnerable with each other without judgment or criticism.

If you are uncomfortable about talking about money, sex, time, goals and family concerns with your potiental spouse, before you get married.... the situation will not imporve once you are married. This is just something to keep in mind. Get into healthy conversation habits before you make the commitment official. This practice will greatly improve the quality and longeveity of your relationship.

In the next episode, we will discuss the wrong reasons to get married.
